Job Advert
Aberdeen Maternity Hospital’s Operating Dept. (OD) team require a dynamic, person centred and forward thinking Health Care Support Worker to join us in our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit to help us facilitate the forward progression of the service.
We offer operative procedures to obstetric patients across NHS Grampian and beyond. As a result we are a very busy and rapidly expanding team. We are available for our patients on a 24/7 basis, but currently the PACU is only open Mon-Fri 0700-1915. This will change in the near future with the development of the service, to being fully staffed 24/7.
Good team working skills are essential, as is an interest in the care of patients undergoing obstetric operative procedures. Experience is not necessary, but a desire to learn is paramount. We offer comprehensive training and support to enable the successful candidate to become a competent and confident HCSW in our PACU. We would be delighted to offer the opportunity to undertake breast feeding training as well as maternal observation, venepuncture and cannulation training.
We have some very exciting future opportunities, looking ahead to the opening of the Baird Family Hospital. As a result, an ability to embrace change and motivate others would be advantageous. We are looking for team members with an interest in all 3 specialties offered at the Baird- gynaecology, breast and obstetrics.
The move to the Baird Family Hospital is a huge undertaking and the successful applicant should have a particular desire to be multi skilled across all 3 specialties in the PACU and excited at the prospect of the new department.
We make time for and support each other both on and off shift, debriefs and informal chats are actively encouraged and as such we are an extremely friendly team that welcomes all new starts warmly.
Unfortunately we may be unable to sponsor candidates for this role.
