We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled registered mental health nurse to join our Joint Community Mental Health Services for Older People in our Montrose/Brechin North East Team based at Town House, High Street, Montrose
The successful candidate should have previous experience working with older people with mental health problems, be registered with the UK Nursing & Midwifery Council, community experience is desirable, although not essential. Excellent communication and negotiation skills and an ability to work within a joint, multi agency team are essential, as is a commitment to continuous professional and service development. You should be able to demonstrate your ability to practice autonomously, with regard to risk, safety and management of crisis and in a recovery focussed manner. You should have a working knowledge and understanding of the national and local agenda’s for older people and a sound knowledge base of mental health problems, relevant legislation and evidence based treatments and interventions. You must be able to access clients/teams across the catchment area on a daily basis.

Hours of work are: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, dependent upon service need initially - the CMHT’s may develop into a 7 day service within extended working hours and this will be remunerated accordingly. This post may be rotational across other areas of Older People’s Mental Health as required by service need.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
