Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

The shift pattern for this position is Mon – Fri, 8.30am – 5pm.

We have a vacancy for a Band 3 Clinical Radiotherapy Assistant within the Radiotherapy Department of the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.

The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre provides an integrated cancer management and treatment service for patients from the West of Scotland and beyond. Facilities are situated in the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and the Tom Wheldon Building on the Gartnavel Hospitals site.  Approximately 7500 courses of radiotherapy are provided annually requiring over 100,000 patient attendances.  The Radiotherapy Department is equipped with some of the most up-to-date facilities currently available and deals with over 500 patients per day.

The team of Band 3 Radiotherapy Assistants carry out various tasks throughout the department and provide support to Therapy Radiographers, other staff groups and patients with a wide range of clinical pathologies and varying presentations, in order to deliver the highest possible standard of care.  They will rotate through specialist areas such as the pre-treatment planning areas and all the treatment machines, and with supervision they will assist in the day to day management of the patients within those areas.
