Job Advert
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
We are seeking a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join a busy Primary Care Mental Health Team to provide high intensity psychological therapies to the North East Glasgow population. During this time, you will undertake assessments on behalf of the team, specialist psychological assessments, and hold a caseload of patients, devising and planning treatments and care plans. You will deliver 1:1 treatment and group treatment using a hybrid model of Attend Anywhere and face to face appointments. You will contribute to the supervision of psychological therapies staff within the team, and contribute to formulation and care planning for clinical assessments carried out by team members.
You will lead and support the team in working towards meeting the LDP waiting time standards for Psychological Therapies and be influential in expediting access to therapy. There are 2 additional psychologists within the team, CBT therapists and Mental Health Practitioners.
You should be trained to Post-graduate, doctoral level in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC, including specific models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
The post holder will have the opportunity to be the lead for IPT intervention for the service.
It is a requirement of these posts to provide clinical placements and supervision to Trainee Clinical Psychologists undertaking a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and other trainee therapists such as CAAPs and CBT clinicians. To enable the post-holder to do so they must be eligible for the relevant training which meets University accreditation criteria.
Registration with the HCPC as a Clinical or Counselling psychologist is essential. Full membership of the Division of Clinical Psychology, the Division of Counselling Psychology or the Association of Clinical Psychologists is desirable. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of professional registration will be required prior to start date. The post requires PVG Scheme Membership / Disclosure Scotland Check.
