What you will do:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced district nurse with current NMC registration to join our community nursing team. You will have evidence of professional development with a keen interest within community nursing.

You will be based within a District Nursing team in Maybole/Girvan area although a requirement  will be a willingness to travel across the locality when required to meet the needs of the service. You will work in close partnership with colleagues across South Ayrshire ensuring an integrated approach to the delivery of compassionate care. The successful candidate will also be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of service.  

You should possess excellent ability to work autonomously and  be able to effectively manage workload within a team with varying skill-mix.  You will be responsible for assessment and provision of effective and efficient high quality care.

You will be an open, honest, approachable and responsible individual with proven ability to support excellent team working.  You will be expected to have a wide range of clinical knowledge and skills with evidence of continuous professional development.  Possessing these qualities will assist in driving high performance ensuring the provision of the best experience of care possible.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

Professional qualification in nursing 

Education to degree level in relevant field e.g. health studies

Current experience of working within District  Nursing

Highly developed skills in team working and inter-personal skills

Knowledge of Information Management and Technology systems and procedures.

Knowledge of Data Protection and Caldicott procedures

Knowledge of clinical, corporate and staff governance issues, policies, procedures and systems.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
