Quality Assurance Directorate of Healthcare Improvement Scotland has interesting and exciting opportunities for enthusiastic and positive healthcare professionals to lead, manage and deliver a portfolio of high-profile inspections which meet legislative, statutory and national requirements for delivery of care and services to the people of Scotland.

These posts are within the Maternity & Neonatal (Perinatal) Inspection Programme and will provide subject matter expertise, clinical assurance, and leadership across the inspection programme to ensure that strategic and operational direction to Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s Maternity & Neonatal (Perinatal) Inspection Programme. 

As an experienced healthcare professional or inspector, with experience of working at a senior level you will demonstrate significant and in-depth experience in midwifery, experience of successfully managing teams in challenging circumstances and strong influencing and negotiation and leadership skills. Including experience of communicating and engaging with individuals at Senior Management and Executive level with knowledge, understanding and practical application of the current and future professional challenges for midwifery.

You will be educated to masters’ level or equivalent experience and must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).

Essential to the role is the evidence of senior leadership and management experience and of making difficult decisions in demanding environments and being accountable for those decisions. 

Regular travel throughout Scotland will be required (including overnight stays)
