MENTAL HEALTH OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Band 6 - £37,831 to £46,100 pro rata

Plus £1,279 per annum Distant Island Allowance pro rata

18.5 hours per week (jobshare)

Permanent contract


We require an enthusiastic Mental Health Occupational Therapist with relevant experience who would relish the opportunity of living and working in our beautiful and rural island community.  You could enjoy amazing outdoor and cultural opportunities such as kayaking, climbing, hill walking, diving as well as a wealth of traditional craft and music related pursuits. This contract is to job share with the existing post holder.

The Mental Health OT provides specialist OT assessment and intervention across both hospital and community settings managing a designated caseload working with adults experiencing a range of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, and personality disorder and dementia.  The OT works as part of the Community Mental Health Team as well as the integrated Occupational Therapy Service. 

A driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential as well as a willingness to travel.

This post is eligible for relocation expenses.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
