The National Risk and Resilience Department (NRRD) is currently seeking applications from enthusiastic, flexible and self-motivated individuals to provide logistical support to the Special Operations Response Teams (SORT) and the wider NRRD.

The NRRD manages a range of national functions including risk management, integrated emergency planning and resilience, business continuity and specialised operational response.

The role of the Logistics Team Leader is to provide effective leadership and support to our Logistics Staff operating from our three main SORT Bases across Scotland. The successful candidate will line manage a current Team of 6 staff to enable them to offer effective support to allow clinical staff and managers to concentrate fully on the delivery and management of immediate clinical care. This post will provide support to the Special Operations Support Manager, Special Operations Response Teams and the CBRNe and Training Teams.

Responsibilities also include ensuring that medical and other equipment, vehicles and infrastructure assets are prepared and available for immediate emergency response. Managing inventory, including the maintenance, servicing, testing, repair and replacement of equipment and the supply, resupply and distribution of consumables and equipment.

The Logistics Team Leader manages the maintenance, collection and distribution of items forming part of the National stockpile for emergency response and will be required to attend the scenes of ongoing significant and major incidents when required, along with training and exercising events to provide logistical support. You will also be required to deal with sensitive information for which official security vetting will be required in addition to standard pre-employment checks.

Experience of managing a team, along with a sound knowledge of stock control systems is essential.  A broad understanding of ordering, receipting and invoicing processes is also desirable, although training will be provided on the specific SAS systems in place.  The possession of a full, current UK/EU driving with the C1 and D1 driving categories and a maximum of 3 penalty points is essential.

It should be noted that there are significant physical requirements to this post in relation to the moving and handling of specialist equipment and consumable items and in the use of, testing and cleaning of temporary structures and vehicles. The working environment can often be fast paced with time constraints to be adhered to and the need to respond to requests at short notice.
