DIABETES SPECIALIST NURSE
Band 6 £37,831 - £46,100 pro rata
Plus £1,279 Distant Islands Allowance pro rata
20 hours per week

An opportunity has arisen for an RGN with specialist interest in diabetes to join our small, friendly and enthusiastic diabetes team in the Western Isles.
There will be the requirement for inter island travel both for the delivery of care and for training purposes; as well as to the mainland for training purposes.
Diabetes Care in NHS Western Isles is run under an Obligate Network Arrangement with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
As a DSN you will be managing the diabetes care of adults, as well as children, diabetes in pregnancy, insulin pump therapy & continuous glucose monitoring.
It is essential that the candidate if not already holding, both Post Graduate Module in Advanced Diabetes at Masters Level & Non-Medical Prescribing; they must be willing to undertake and complete both these courses.
A full UK driving licence and the use of a car is essential for this post.
The successful applicants will be required to register with the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme. This post is not eligible for relocation expenses.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
