Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern is M-F 8.30-4.30

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time temporary Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our Northeast Glasgow Occupational Therapy Team (part of the wider GGC Specialist Children’s Services Occupational Therapy Service) covering a maternity leave. Post graduate experience as an occupational therapist is desirable, as is an understanding of work in a community paediatric setting and experience of working with children and young people. However this post offers an opportunity to develop these skills in a supportive environment. You will be working in a small but well established and highly innovative team, providing occupational therapy advice, assessment and intervention for children and young people aged 0-18 years through our tiered model of service delivery. You will work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team, liaising with colleagues in education, social work and the 3rd sector to support the children, young people and their families.

This post is based in the Northeast of Glasgow and serves two locality community paediatric teams at Bridgeton Health Centre and Woodside Health and Care Centre. The nature of community work involves going out to work with children, young people and those who support them in homes, schools and nurseries. You are required to be HCPC registered. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and enjoys being part of an enthusiastic team. You must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills when working with children, young people and their carers. You require to have good IT skills, and have experience in the use of digital for both delivering and recording care. The service covers a wide geographic area and requires travel between bases and community environments so the post holder should have a driving licence.  We are committed to Continued Professional Development and Reflective Practice. A range of training and support for your professional development will be provided. We have regular supervision and reflective practice in place to support good practice. We are happy to chat over any questions/queries about the hours or any other aspects of the post.

This is a Fixed term post for 6 months
