NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

The shift pattern for this position is Long days 0715-1930hrs -13shifts over a 4 week period.

Staff Nurse Band 5, 37 hours, worked as 13 long days over a 4 week period ( 3x weeks of 3long days & 1 week of 4 long days), Monday – Saturday.
This post is for the Renal Dialysis Unit based within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the unit provides haemodialysis treatment to 120 renal dialysis outpatients, with 2 patient shifts operating each day.

The unit is a very friendly and welcoming outpatient area, based within level 2 of the QEUH. It is part of the larger regional renal services, which consist of 6 outpatient haemodialysis units, a community home therapies unit and the main inpatient hub housed on level 4 of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Previous haemodialysis experiences is preferable, but not essential, as teaching and training will be provided, the post is therefore an excellent opportunity to develop new nursing skills within a friendly outpatient environment. Trainees are provided with the support of a mentor and detailed training plan and materials.

You will work within the nursing and multi professional team to ensure a high standard of care to a defined patient group. You will competently perform the necessary technical aspects of care. You will assess patient needs – plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based programs of care for patients with renal conditions, in collaboration with the wider renal team.

You will provide support to patients and their carers in all aspects of haemodialysis treatment.

You will utilize all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, race, gender and cultural background of this patient group.

It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and evidence of continuing professional development is desirable.
