An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Occupational Therapy team based in Nairn Town and County Hospital.
As an assistant practitioner you will be a key member of the Allied Health Professional team and work closely with fellow colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to achieve collective goals to ward patients or the wider community population.
Key aspects of your role will include working independently following discussions and with guidance and support from senior Occupational Therapy colleagues. Being involved in making recommendations for the next stage of a patient’s recovery or assisting in providing joint care session with senior Occupational Therapy colleagues.
Key attributes for this post include enthusiasm, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and knowledge and an understanding of Occupational Therapy in rehabilitation.
Essential requirements for consideration for this role include a minimum of three years experience working as a band three Occupational Therapy Assistant, or a similar healthcare role. You will understand the importance of functional assessment and rehabilitation strategies to assist in promoting independence and these would include the process of reablement and care at home support.
You may have undertaken an HNC in OT support, working towards completion or be willing to undertake. You will also be a UK registered car driver and have access to a vehicle to allow for community care provisions. IT literacy is considered essential for this post.
Opportunities for personal development and full training and support for the role will be given. In addition, the AHP department offers a rolling in service training programme which you will attend and you will also have access to Highland wide training opportunities.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
