We are seeking to appoint a full time Specialist Doctor working with NHS Fife Addiction Services.
NHS Fife Addiction Services provide a Fife-wide treatment service to individuals with drug and alcohol-related problems. The service actively works in partnership with other agencies to provide comprehensive care.
You must possess a registered medical qualification, hold full GMC registration and have met the requirements for specialist doctor position in psychiatry. Those from other medical backgrounds will be provided adequate training if otherwise deemed suitable for this post.

Your timetable will be agreed with the Clinical Lead and the Clinical Service Manager for Addiction Services. You will have responsibility for providing a comprehensive range of services in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team to patients with addiction problems. The main role is in assessment, diagnosis and management of substance use problems within a multiagency partnership; to provide clinical support to the addictions multidisciplinary team; and to engage in strategic initiatives linked with provision of healthcare for addictions. There will also be dedicated special interest sessions allocated for other clinical, teaching or research activities tailored to the needs and competency of the successful candidate. You will receive regular structured supervision and will be fully supported in the appraisal and revalidation process. Candidates aiming to apply for CESR (also known as Article 14) will be supported by the service.
This post will complement the medical workforce within a multidisciplinary service that provides an evidence based and clinically governed approach to individual and population level interventions to meet the needs of substance dependent individuals in Fife. The successful applicant will be involved in the delivery of a recovery oriented approach to complex and multi- morbidity cases using a consultancy model.
The service has very strong links with the Universities of St Andrews and Dundee, and you will be encouraged and supported to get involved in clinical audit and/or research. Our teaching commitments include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in addiction medicine. We also have teaching placements for nursing, social workers and health psychology trainees.
You will be required to travel throughout Fife. Fife is an area of considerable historic interest and enjoys areas of outstanding natural beauty. A wide range of sporting and cultural facilities are available locally with easy access to the main urban and recreational areas of central Scotland. There are excellent rail and motorway transport links to the major UK networks and Edinburgh Airport provides easy access to extensive domestic and international flights.
The salary and terms and conditions of appointment are in accordance with Terms and Conditions of Service for Specialist Doctors.
