NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. The shift pattern for this position is various shifts on Rota basis – 5 over 7 days.
We are recruiting a Portering Supervisor for the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley. The main purpose of this role is to co-ordinate the provision of an efficient and effective Portering/Transport service in line with Hospital policies and procedures.
The post holder will be a member of a responsive frontline service available to the patients, staff, and visitors of the hospital adopting hands on, flexible cross cover basis. Working with staff using a variety of skills during busy times or emergency situations (e g major haemorrhages) in order to ensure an efficient delivery of service.
All portering duties are expected to be prioritised and the post holder must be able to use their own initiative, as there is times there would not be an onsite line manager the post holder needs to respond efficiently and appropriately to a wide range of requests from various departments throughout the hospital. Good communication skills are essential. You must have a positive, can do attitude and be able to work as part of a very busy team. You must have strong organisational skills and a strong work ethic, have the ability to fully understand that all tasks are essential and to prioritise efficiently, while ensuring all services demands and expectations are met.
The post holder must be available to cover all shifts on a rota basis including, early shift, day shift, backshift and nightshift including weekends. This is a 5 over 7 day post and we require the post holder to be fully flexible.
A clean UK driving license is essential for this role.
