An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Pharmacist – Frailty based at University Hospital Crosshouse.
What you will do:
You will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and promote safe, clinically effective and cost effective prescribing. You will be responsible for delivering and evaluating a clinical pharmacy service to patients with frailty. You will provide highly specialised advice in all pharmaceutical matters specific to frailty, relating to the care of individual patients.
The post requires an ability to work autonomously & be responsible for your own outcomes whilst being innovative and forward thinking to clinical & service developments. This will require self- direction, confidence and problem solving skills.
You will contribute to the wider development and improvement of pharmaceutical services to patients.
You will also be accountable for the safe and cost effective use of medicines within the areas of practice.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
Excellent communication, team working, organisational and time management skills are key attributes required to successfully deliver this role. In addition you will have a passion for providing high quality care to patients and the ability to build strong, professional relationships with the wider multi-disciplinary team and hospital and community pharmacy colleagues
You will have experience as a qualified pharmacist, be registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council, an independent prescriber, and hold a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy (or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence). Applications are welcome from pharmacists with relevant clinical experience working in primary or secondary care. Experience of working in care of the elderly is desirable but not essential.

Hours: 22.3 per week (pro rata). In future, in accordance with AfC Terms and conditions, you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.
This is a a fixed term/secondment opportunity 1 year, commencing September 2024.
A car licence/car ownership is essential for this role.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
