DEPUTY HEAD OF MAINTENANCE & TECHNICAL SERVICES

Deputy Head of Maintenance Services

Band 8b

Permanent

The Facilities & Estates team provides NHS Grampian with essential services to enable the delivery of care to patients, and to support staff and the public in our healthcare locations.

The primary purpose of this role is to:

  • Lead the approach to maintenance planning, control and reporting, optimising our resources and the use of the maintenance management system
  • Oversee our technical operating standards, assuring that these are effectively applied across our maintenance operations
  • Lead the ongoing assessment of compliance with legislative requirements and NHS Scotland technical standards, coordinating development plans where needed
  • Provide a systematic approach to asset data and technical information, and how these are used in the asset management and the maintenance management systems
  • Provide team leadership and management for any aligned operational teams ensuring work is under safely

The successful person will also support the Head of Maintenance Services by:

  • Contributing to the maintenance strategies for NHS Grampian
  • Engaging with stakeholders to provide expert technical advice and facilitate improvements.
  • Contributing to the assessment and management of infrastructure risks, supporting service planning and investment prioritisation

Suitable candidates will have:

  • Proven experience of managing maintenance in critical environments and managing team performance
  • A bachelor’s degree in an engineering or construction related discipline, or be able to demonstrate equivalent learning through experience and personal development
  • Proven capability in the tactical management of maintenance planning, workflow and reporting processes
  • Experience of building maintenance programmes
  • Significant experience in maintenance control and quality assurance
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills
  • Practical experience of planning and implementing change in maintenance services
  • Proven experience in cost forecasting and financial controls
