Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

This is a fixed term position of 5 months.

The shift pattern for this position is flexible mon-Friday and part-time would be accepted. (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

We require maternity leave cover for 5 months for our small department.  The department provides a neurophysiology service to children and young people referred from a range of specialities.  To succeed it will be essential to have significant paediatric neurophysiology experience.  The successful candidate will need to be experienced in carrying out and analysing/interpreting results from highly specialised paediatric neurophysiological investigations including

  • Routine EEG
  • Portable EEGs to PICU, NICU and wards
  • Ambulatory EEG
  • Home Video Ambulatory EEG
  • Inpatient Video Telemetry
  • MSLTs

We are looking for a candidate with a flexible approach and forward thinking to join our small, friendly team consisting of one Lead Physiologist, 1.7 WTE Highly Specialised Physiologists and 1 Senior Assistant Physiologist.  In addition we work closely with 8 Paediatric Neurologists and 3 Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialists.

This position is offered at 33 hours per week and the working pattern will need to be flexible in order to meet the needs of both our patients and the service.  CPD is encouraged as is regular participation in the department teaching and clinical governance meetings.

You will possess a minimum of BSc in Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent specialist training ECNE Part 1 and Part II, together with relevant post qualification experience and knowledge of specialist procedures.  AHCS registration is required.

In addition to clinical workload the post holder will be required to contribute to maintaining quality and standards.
