To provide expert professional nursing leadership, strategic direction and expert consultancy on all aspects of care and treatment of people with dementia across the patient pathway across NHS Lothian this includes acute hospital sites and the 4 Health and Social Care Partnerships. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries, in partnership and in collaboration with others including service users, carers, health professionals, social work, voluntary sector staff and local higher education providers.
To provide expert professional leadership, in role of Nurse Consultant, to promote high professional standards and lead improvement and redesign projects across NHS Lothian and in partnership with other agencies which make up Health & Social Care Partnerships in the NHS Lothian area. Ensure that patients’ needs are met and measured by ensuring clinical outcomes that offer both professional and care assurance within the context of local and national strategies.
The focus on the role will include implementation of Scotland’s National Dementia Strategy (2017-20); Standards of Care for Dementia in Scotland (2011); Promoting Excellence (2011); and the Charter of Rights for People with Dementia and their Carers in Scotland (2009).
Responsible for delivery of clinical care to a small complex clinical caseload and provision of consultation, advice and clinical supervision to other colleagues across inpatient and community.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
