The mental health directorate contains a diverse range of clinical teams, professions and specialities. They are all committed to constantly evolving and improving clinical services for the benefit for those who need to use them and for those who work in them.
A quality improvement and performance post will be a transformational post that will have the full support of the mental health management team to apply the principles of quality improvement across a wide range of teams. Already in place is a work environment that has a track record for sustainable change. With the added opportunity to work collaboratively with service leads and a wide range of stakeholders to achieve common goals and ambitions. The post holder will work with a high level of autonomy and will be supported to make decisions and recommendations based on improving patient outcomes, staff experience and the delivery of strategic objectives.
The post holder whilst expected to deliver a quality improvement agenda, the quality improvement agenda will fit with the aims of good financial governance and financial sustainability. There are a number of financial savings and productivity maximisation projects that the mental health directorate are expected to deliver which the post holder will have a critical role in delivering.
A key aspect of the role will be to develop a performance framework and a reporting frame work related to performance and national drivers. The national drivers will include the mental health national strategy 2023 and the core standards for adult mental health 2023.
The successful applicant will be joining an established, highly motivated management team; line management will be via the mental health general manager. There is office space at Mountain Hall Treatment centre Dumfries however an alternative base can be discussed. Hybrid home working is an option but exclusive home working is not an option due to the expectation that the post holder will be working closely with clinical leads in their areas.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
