An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee School Nurse vacancy in Inverness, working as part of a Family Team to deliver universal child health programmes for school aged children and young people (5-19 Years. The post is based at the Highland Council Headquarters and involves working within school and community settings.
In conjunction with the School Nurse, working with education colleagues in their role as Named Persons and contributing to the development of the Child’s Plan through health assessment using the national practice model (GIRFEC)
Duties within this post include:
- Identifying Health Needs and planning care
- Screening children for growth, hearing and vision
- Deliver enuresis (bedwetting) clinics.
- Support parents with healthy eating/ sleep and behaviour
- Review the health of care experienced young people
- Support the delivery of drop-in clinics in high schools
- Work as part of a skill mixed team
The successful candidate will spend the first twelve months working within the team as a Staff Nurse and will apply for the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse course to commence in September 2025. Upon completion of the course will Register as a School Nurse.
