Position

An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Practitioner at University Hospital Crosshouse working across occupational therapy and physiotherapy professions.


What you will do:

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, relevant qualifications and experience of working in a care setting or with healthcare, community or voluntary sector. We will provide training and support to undertake the role. The post holder should be passionate about empowering their patients to achieve their goals.


This new post will collaborate with experienced clinicians and health care professionals to have a meaningful impact on care. You will support assessment, rehabilitation and support safe discharge.


You will also be involved in internal administrative processes which contribute to the work of the AHP unscheduled care team. Once you have had the relevant support and training you will have responsibility for the day to day management of your own caseload. By operating a partly shared team caseload we are able to offer excellent opportunities for practice supervision and shadowing in a wide range of clinical areas.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You should possess a formal qualification at HNC Level or equivalent level of experience in a health / education / social care environment plus short specialist courses relevant to specific clinical area.

Experience and confidence using electronic systems eg Microsoft Word. Evidence of competencies and skills required to deliver this post is essential e.g. excellent time management, great interpersonal/communication skills, organisational skills, self-motivation and ability to work as part of a team.


Hours:

37 per week.

Part time and job share would be considered.


Fixed Term/Secondment:

Please note this job is a fixed term/secondment until 31st March 2025..


Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
