Job Advert
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the administrative team who ensures the highest standards of governance within NHS Fife. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, person-centred and high-quality healthcare for the population of Fife, and to help support our staff in addressing any concerns raised that might impact on their wellbeing and that of their patients.
Applicants will be educated ideally to degree level or equivalent, and it would be advantageous to have direct experience and knowledge of delivery of health and care services, possibly from holding a clinical role previously. For this new role, we are looking for an outgoing person to respond proactively to contacts and queries from staff, guiding them through the processes in place to help address any concerns raised. Experience in delivering training or support to staff will be helpful. A personal commitment to openness and transparency is essential.
You will play an important ambassador role for Speaking Up across the organisation, ensuring all staff are aware of the arrangements for raising Whistleblowing concerns and are supported to do so. You will play a key part in promoting a culture of trust across NHS Fife, valuing the raising of concerns as a route to learning and improvement, and ensuring the National Whistleblowing Standards are functioning at all levels of the organisation. You will also be a source of advice and support to those staff who volunteer their own time and experience to be Confidential Contacts.
You must be self-motivated, confident and empathetic. You must also be able to develop and maintain effective working relationship with staff from all levels of the organisation. Applicants should be able to work on their own initiative, sometimes against tight and inflexible deadlines, and demonstrate excellent written and communication skills.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Governance & Board Secretary, you will frequently operate as a key interface between local leads and those at a national level, particularly within the Office of the Independent National Whistleblowing Officer (INWO).
This is an excellent career development opportunity. You will be expected to make a significant contribution to good governance practice within NHS Fife.
Provisional interviews date: Thursday 22 August 2024.
Please note the salary for this post is pro rata to part time hours.
For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Gillian MacIntosh, Head of Corporate Governance & Board Secretary at gillian.macintosh@nhs.scot.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
