Are you a RN looking for a change? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team within Forensic Healthcare. You should be a 1st Level Registered Nurse with previous experience at Band 5 and educated to or working towards degree level. We are seeking to appoint an individual who is eager to learn and develop within this specialism, which holds person centred care at the very forefront of all that we do.
Tayside Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) is based in Dundee where we provide care for people who have experienced sexual harm. The successful candidate would provide support with Forensic Examinations for those over the age of 16 who have been recently sexually assaulted or raped for holistic health. You will ensure support and guidance is given ensuring that their, dignity wishes and beliefs are respected. You will also arrange follow up care with advice and guidance from a clinical lead as necessary.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting with clinical assessment and physical examination to ascertain the client has any acute need such as physical injury, prevention of pregnancy, prophylaxis for HIV, and may directly refer to the clinical services and agencies.
You will work closely with the police and the forensic medical examiner. Our dedicated team are also fully trained to collect forensic samples which can assist the police with their investigations.
You will work within a clinical team that values patient safety and delivery of safe, effective high quality care. You should be committed to provide a high standard of professional nursing care, with a proven ability to influence changes in practice. As well as working autonomously you should be able to work well within a team and demonstrate your ongoing learning with supporting evidence of continuous professional development.
The post holder will attend civil and criminal court as a professional witness on an occasional basis.
You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC

Hours of work are: Monday to Friday Full -Time Hours – 37 hours per week. Fixed Term/Secondment for 22 Months

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
