Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapy Support Worker at University Hospital Crosshouse.

What you will do:

We are looking for empathetic Physiotherapy Support Workers who want to join our passionate team to help make a difference to the lives of people affected by Cardiac and other Long Term Conditions. Having a belief in the benefits of a Healthy Lifestyle, but also an understanding of health inequality and the challenges that people can face in attaining this would ideal. You would be a valued part of a multidisciplinary team.

The duties will involve

  • Housekeeping duties, PECOS ordering and stock control, cleaning in line with HEI standards, admin, contributing to data collection and databases.
  • Supporting service users and the team deliver enhanced digital solutions
  • Delivery of components of an exercise class
  • Connecting service users with opportunities within their local communities
  • Maintaining health and safety, contributing to audits.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You will have experience of assisting people to achieve their goals, feel passionately about supporting self-management to help people live well with their long term conditions. You will understand the role of a physiotherapy technical instructor. Experience of leading groups is desirable.

Key attributes for this post are excellent communication and motivational skills, the ability to work independently and as part of the team, playing a key role in linking different elements together. You should be calm, kind and highly organised. You will be expected to actively participate in our in-service training and service developments. This has the potential to be a physically demanding post and we would look for people who got pleasure out of being physically active.

Hours: 22.3 per week


UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
