SPECIALTY REGISTRAR LAT (ST1) IN PUBLIC HEALTH

Applications are invited for a LAT post in Public Health for up to 11 months.


Based in with NHS Grampian (with NHS Board Headquarters in Aberdeen), this post offers an unique opportunity to gain a well-rounded insight and experience in Public Health practice including health protection, health improvement and health inequalities reduction, and healthcare public health.  

The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of multi-disciplinary Public Health Consultants, Nurse Specialists, Health Improvement Specialists, and Public Health managers alongside existing Public Health trainees. An integral part of NHS Grampian, the Public Health Directorate has close links with the three Local Authorities in North East Scotland, the local Community Planning and Integrated Health and Social Care Boards as well as wider Public Health collaborators. The department is research active with ongoing research links to the universities in the North East of Scotland, including Aberdeen University and Robert Gordon University.  

NHS Grampian provides health and health care services for approximately 500,000 people in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, and Moray. Aberdeen itself is the third largest city in Scotland, sited where the Rivers Dee and Don reach the sea and reflecting its status as a modern, vibrant place to live and work. Both Aberdeenshire and Moray boast some of the most breathtakingly beautiful countryside in Scotland with the Cairngorms National Park and the rugged North East coast easily accessible.


NHS Grampian retains a hybrid model of working.

The LAT is open to both medically and non-medically qualified candidates that reach standard to be eligible for recruitment to the national Public Health Training scheme. Further details of this are within the attached Job Description and Person Specification.  Successful non-medical candidates are appointed on Agenda for Change T&Cs. Salary will based on Band 8D, proportionate the year of training being undertaken.
