We are looking for a Therapeutic Radiographer Team Leader to join our friendly team at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. We are seeking to recruit a HCPC Registered Therapeutic Radiographer with expert knowledge and skills in modern radiotherapy techniques and the application of available specialist technologies. The post holder is expected to be a dynamic individual who is adaptable, confident with change and able to deliver outstanding patient care.

The post holder will be required to have attention to detail, and an ability to manage complex and stressful situations with calm efficiency.  They will be required to lead and coordinate a radiotherapy team on a day-to-day basis ensuring the delivery of safe and efficient care by allocating available staff and other resources as required. The post holder is expected to be adaptable, confident with change, able to deliver outstanding patient care and will rotate through the pre-treatment and treatment sections.  

Radiotherapy services are provided for the population of Tayside and North East Fife, delivering around 1400 new courses each year for a broad spectrum of cancers as well as providing specialist treatments including brachytherapy and SABR. The Radiotherapy Department currently houses three Varian linear accelerators, one Canon Aquillion Wide Bore CT scanner, mould room facilities, HDR brachytherapy facilities and Raystation treatment planning system. We are a paper light department currently expanding our use of VMAT and IGRT as well as having an exciting programme of equipment replacement and planning system upgrades over the next year.

There are direct rail services to and from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, all of which are less than 90 minutes away. From London Kings Cross, the direct journey is around 6.5 hours by train.  Dundee’s airport is walking distance, located just 3km from the centre and offers direct flights to both Belfast and London City.

Hours of work are: 37.0 hours per week


NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
