Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern is Monday – Friday 9am-5pm

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

This is a permanent post and the hours are currently Monday-Friday day shift, although may change to 7 days/combination hours of shifts to cover the unit opening hours of 8am – 8pm.  The Acute Oncology Assessment Unit at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre is a nurse-led unit run by experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioners. The unit provides unscheduled care to patients who present acutely unwell as a result of an oncological emergency or as a side effect of their cancer/cancer treatment. Patients can be admitted from out-patient and day case treatment areas within the hospital, or as unwell admissions from home. The unit also houses the Cancer Treatment Helpline which provides specialist, dedicated oncology advice and support to patients who are receiving systemic anti-cancer treatment at the Beatson Oncology Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical leadership to the nursing team of the Assessment Unit and Cancer Treatment Helpline. We are looking to recruit an experienced registered nurse to work within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high standard of care for patients by providing holistic and compassionate care. The role will also include supporting the Lead ANP and the team in ensuring that all the nursing standards are kept and that all parts of the managerial agenda are met and managed. You will be joining a hard-working, caring team and will have their full support in ensuring that we are providing the best possible care to all our cancer patients. Applicants must be a registered general nurse with current NMC registration and provide evidence of continuing professional development.

Applications from 2024 Newly Qualified Nurse/Midwife, will not be considered for this post.
