Job Advert

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support Worker to join our team in the development of our Care and Treatment Service in North Locality Perthshire, including some in-reach to more rural GP Practices.  Cover across the North Locality will be expected.

The post holder will contribute to the work of the Community Care and Treatment Services team in providing the highest quality of healthcare, supporting the Registered Nurses in the running of a variety of clinics including management of wounds, phlebotomy, chronic disease monitoring and related data collection.

Working with a diverse caseload, you will work with the team along with other service professionals, to meet the needs of patients providing safe holistic, patient centred and evidence based care.

You will work in partnership, based on the values of the organisation, with other agencies, patient’s carers and relatives as we work towards enhancing the community multi disciplinary team and integrated models of working.

Applicants must have a positive attitude to change and endeavour to deliver high standards of patient care. You should have evidence of continuing development pertinent to the role although we are committed to delivering and supporting ongoing training and development.

You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.

Hours of work are:  30 hours  -  This is currently Monday to Friday.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

Short-listed applicants will be contacted by email.   Please check your emails regularly, including your junk/spam folder.
