Job Advert

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support Worker to work within the Community Nursing Service in North East Fife.  This post will be a permanent post, predominantly within the Blackfriars District Nurse Team based at St. Andrews Community Hospital, but may be required to work across the locality to meet staffing requirements.

Within this role, you will be required to deliver high quality, person centered care to patients within the community, under the support and guidance of the band 5 Community Staff Nurses. Experience of working within the community would be advantageous for this position, as would phlebotomy skills, however not essential and full training can be given.

Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and team working are essential for this position. You must be a team player and have a genuine interest in working in the community.

Working hours will be 08:30am-17:00pm Monday-Friday. You must be willing to work public holidays if and when required, and also in other areas of community within NHS Fife to meet the needs of the service.

You will be required to work within a 24 hour, 7 day Community Nursing Service and an ability to travel across the locality is essential.

For informal enquiries, please contact Elaine Russell - elaine.russell@nhs.scot.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
