The Post:
The National Specialist and Screening Directorate plans, funds and co-ordinates national specialist and screening services on behalf of NHS Boards and the Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates. It facilitates service change across NHS Scotland to ensure consistent, equitable provision of high quality, safe, effective, person-centred services to meet the needs of the population of Scotland.
SCOTTISH CANCER NETWORK
The Scottish Government’s Cancer Strategy for Scotland 2023 to 2033 describes a ‘Once for Scotland’ vision for the next ten years to improve cancer survival and provide excellent, equitably accessible care. The aligned three-year Cancer Action Plan for Scotland sets out the key ambitions and highlights the need for a focus on prevention, earlier and faster diagnosis pathways, and improved support prior, during and after treatment.
At the heart of these strategic ambitions, the Scottish Cancer Network (SCN) has been commissioned to define Clinical Management Pathways from the point of diagnosis, host national cancer networks, and deliver other collaborative projects, to provide support in implementing Once for Scotland working where there are clear benefits to cancer treatment and care, and effective use of clinical time.
We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to join our team. This is an interesting, dynamic and challenging post within a team managing projects/programmes across the SCN portfolio and facilitating ‘Once for Scotland’ approaches across NHS Scotland. The post holder will have the ability to provide robust programme and change management within complex programme environments, experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders from different organisations together to achieve a common goal and excellent communication, interpersonal and team working skills.
The Candidate:
Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, the post holder will drive forward specific programmes of work within agreed timeframes. The post holder will have excellent leadership, influencing, organisational skills and the ability to produce written work of the highest quality. The ability to work on own initiative, be proactive, manage and prioritise a busy work schedule and demonstrate attention to detail are also important for this role.
Location and Working Pattern:
Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow.
Currently hybrid working.
Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
