An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the multidisciplinary team within the operating departments in NHS Tayside. The post holder will work collaboratively to promote the delivery of evidence based patient care.
The SFA/ASP role is to competently and safely carry out skilled procedures when assisting the surgeon in the operating department. The SFA/ASP will also be responsible for planning and preventing challenges ahead of time e.g. booking loan kit and co-ordinating with the wider MDT.
The successful applicant will be based at the above mentioned site, but may be required to vary their workplace within the area covered by NHS Tayside, as required.
Applicants must have good communication skills and demonstrate the ability to assess, plan and implement care for perioperative patients.
You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC register or equivalent (HPC ODP NVQ Level 3 / Diploma) and demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development relevant to previous experience.
Applicants who have not previously completed SFA/ASP training will be required to complete this via NHS Scotland Academy in Golden Jubilee. Completion of this training is mandatory to successful applicants.

Hours of work are: 37hrs.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
