Base:    East Edinburgh 

We have a full time vacancy for a suitably qualified administrator to join the team of paediatric Speech and Language Therapists in East Edinburgh. The post holder will be based in one of our clinics at either Leith CTC/Mountcastle HC or Tollcross HC, but will on occasion be required to travel to / work from other locations across NHS Lothian. The Speech and Language Therapy team delivers a community based service to children and families in Edinburgh, working across health centres, schools and Early Years settings.

The successful candidate should have experience of responding to patient and professional enquiries, managing patient records, managing appointment and accommodation bookings / cancellations, typing and distributing correspondence and reports, ordering / managing office supplies and supporting the service lead and team with data processing and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will be educated to HNC/SVQIII in Secretarial Studies/ Business Administration OR equivalent level of experience, with demonstrated medical secretary/ administrative experience at Band 4.

You will provide a high level of administrative support to the service lead and the team in general and assist with all general administrative duties for the paediatric clinicians. You will also supervise and offer support to Band 3 admin staff within the Edinburgh teams. Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is a highly professional manner. You must have attention to detail and be able to work confidently within a busy team setting and be able to direct and progress work on your own initiative.

You will be highly proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, database and general IT skills. Knowledge of NHS systems such as TRAK/PECOS/SSTS/HEALTH ROSTER and eESS is desirable but training can be provided. The Speech and Language Therapy service is innovative and supportive and we are committed to providing a high quality service focused on the child’s needs. Support is available from our other Band 4 administrative staff and senior SLTs.

There are opportunities for further training and development within the service. Applicants must obtain full PVG clearance.
