The NHS Tayside Digital Directorate are looking to recruit a System Support Technician to work within the exciting, challenging and rewarding Endpoint Team on a permanent basis.


This is an excellent opportunity to join the Endpoint Team as a key technical resource. Duties will consist of the day-to-day BAU work inclusive of handling 2nd line support calls in addition to involvement within varying key project/service improvement work as and when required.


What we are looking for:


The successful candidate should possess previous experience supporting user-based technical requests, have both notable endpoint hardware and software experience in addition to a drive to improve themselves and those around them inclusive of user education.


The post requires education to a minimum of diploma level, preferably in the IT field or an equivalent level of knowledge and should include the following:


•           Experience in team working with good technical and troubleshooting skills.

•           Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft technologies (e.g. Windows 10 and associated security and management platforms/applications).

•           Awareness of emerging technologies and trends.

•           Focus on excellent Customer Service.

•           Experience in autonomous decision making and liaising with internal/national support teams to provide solutions to problems or issues.

•           Liaising with 3rd party contractors and vendors.


This role will include the above but is not restricted to these responsibilities.


A key element of the role includes supporting your colleagues with technical decision making including the production of technical documentation and knowledge base articles as and when required.


Where we are:


Our Geographical region covers Dundee, Perth & Angus and these posts will be an on-premises role primarily based at Maryfield House, Dundee.


The ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
