NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. You will support the provision of quality patient care within a new state of the art adult acute and children’s hospital facility. The Facilities Directorate deliver a variety of services (e.g. patient and retail catering, domestic cleaning, porter, transport) which support and contribute to the provision of quality patient care. You will support with the delivery of catering services to patients, and for functions within the hospital, regeneration of patients meals either centrally or at ward level, plating patient meals at the point of service as advised by nursing staff and cleaning and wash-up of all equipment, machinery, and crockery associated with catering services. You will assist food production staff with the basic preparation of meals, undertake picking & packing of patient meal component and support the overall delivery of patient meals to ward level.
You should comply with Food Hygiene Regulations with regard to food service. No qualifications or experience are required for this post as all training will be given on the job but you should be able to work under pressure and have good communication skills. Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
