Position

An opportunity has arisen for two permanent Technical Specialists (Systems) based at University Hospital Crosshouse

Hours:

37 Hours per Week.

What you will do:

You will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, management and performance of the Organisation’s information systems ensuring their integrity, security and availability in order to meet the Organisation’s information requirements for the efficient operation of their business.

You will also be involved in the maintenance, development and to adapt existing systems, applications and interfaces and to assist in the technical implementation of new applications and interfaces.

You will help provide a resource to senior managers and consultants for the extraction of data from clinical systems and the design and production of statutory and ad-hoc reports.

You will also provide expert technical advice and support to Digital Services staff and system users and be able to communicate complex ideas to staff at all levels and technical ability.

You will be required to take part in an On-Call rota system where the ability to travel on-site within a 1 hour window is required.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an IT related subject or have proven relevant experience of working within a similar area ideally within a healthcare environment.

Proven technical skills in and proficiency in the following are required:

  • Microsoft Windows Server Operating systems
  • Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems
  • Microsoft Office Applications
  • Microsoft 365
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Linux Specifically RedHat / Centos / Rocky / AlmaLinux
  • File Transfer Protocols FTP, sFTP, SSH
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Powershell, BASH, Javascript, TSQL, Python
  • Helpdesk Ticketing Systems (ie ServiceNow)
  • System Monitoring applications (ie Zabbix, Solarwinds)

A knowledge and understanding of core NHS systems would also be advantageous.
