OUR VALUES IN ACTION

●Care and Compassion ●Quality and Teamwork ●Dignity and Respect ●Openness, Honesty and Responsibility

Please note: This is a fixed-term post for 1 year.

Information and Business Intelligence are looking for a BI Solution Developer to join our team for a 12-month period in order to support the development of datasets and reporting systems within NHS Borders.

We are looking for an individual who can combine excellent technical skills with an ability to communicate, in an easy and engaging way, sometimes complex concepts with clinical and managerial staff.

The Information and Business Intelligence Team is responsible for the provision and maintenance of business intelligence solutions across the organisation. The team is currently in the process of implementing a BI strategy to support clinicians and service users. We are transitioning from Business Objects and Excel based reporting into a self-service dashboard model utilising Power BI.

The post holder will be a key element of the strategy by developing new datasets from legacy systems and producing reporting solutions using Power BI and other tools as appropriate. The post holder is expected to produce highly automated solutions and they will have a good working knowledge of data transformation tools, SQL, Power Query, Power BI (including DAX) and Excel.

Within BI Services we all work from home although some onsite meetings will be required to collaborate within the team and other Directorates on an ad hoc basis.

Informal enquiries are welcome, please contact: Bill.Urquhart@borders.scot.nhs.uk

***PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accept late applications so please ensure your application is submitted early***

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Hiring Manager.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
