An exciting new opportunity has arisen for Physician’s Associate to join the Medical Team at Raigmore Hospital undertaking specific responsibilities as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  In conjunction with their colleagues, the post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Candidates, who are absolutely committed to enhancing patient care, through the efficient and effective management as part of a wider clinical team within Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, are encouraged to apply.

The function of the Physician Associate (PA) is to provide high quality patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary clinical teams. The post will be based in the Medical Division. The post holder will be part of a wider clinical team available to participate in all aspects of the patient pathway.

Working autonomously as part of the multi-disciplinary team, you will undertake comprehensive physical assessment and history taking of patients and provide immediate care and / or initiate treatment as per clinical pathways / protocols. 

Raigmore Hospital provides elective and emergency inpatient and outpatient services to the population of the Highlands which includes acute medical, surgical, trauma & orthopaedics, maternity and gynaecological services. It also provides laboratory, radiological and pharmacy services. It receives tertiary referrals in renal medicine and other specialities, offers a breast screening service and acts as host to visiting services such as plastic surgery, neurosurgery and paediatric cardiology. 

There will be opportunity for the successful applicant to influence their allocation within a medical speciality.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
