Cambusavie Unit at Lawson Memorial Hospital, is a 16-bedded GP acute and rehabilitation Unit situated in Golspie in the heart of the beautiful county of Sutherland in the North Highlands of Scotland.  We cater for patients from the local area requiring medical management working with our physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated Registered Adult Nurses to join our team.

As a staff nurse at Cambusavie Unit, you will be developing and implementing evidence based care in collaboration with patients and their families, co-ordinating that care and working closely with the multi-disciplinary team.  You will liaise with and work on discharge planning to return patients to their own homes in the community.  You will lead a team of care workers in delivering high quality care to our patients and get an opportunity to foster and grow your nursing skills.

The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the multi-disciplinary team and with their patients and families.  They will be able to manage their time and caseload, prioritise effectively and utilise resources and staff efficiently, and work in an environment with competing demands.  They will have experience, or a desire to work within a community hospital.  Experience in working with GP acute and/or rehab patients before is desirable but not essential.

You will need to be able to work within NHS highland’s policies and procedures and within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.  Applicants should have a valid UK NMC Registration.

These are permanent full and part-time posts, working a rotational contract in accordance with service requirements.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
