Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.

The Workforce Directorate works at a national level to support the delivery of NES’s strategic plan and is a key partner to the delivery of Scottish Government priorities for the health and social care workforce. It also provides a comprehensive People and Organisational Development strategy and service for the people who work for NES and externally to NHSScotland in the recruitment of medical and dental trainees and other vocational trainee groups.

The Centre for Workforce Supply Social Care Team (CWS) is a fast paced and dynamic team, within the Workforce Directorate. Commissioned by the Scottish Government in 2023, our goal is to support the wider adult social care sector in embedding ethical and sustainable, person-centred international recruitment practices to support growth of the adult social care workforce in Scotland. Our work is aligned to the National Workforce Strategy for Health and Social Care.

Our main areas of work include:

  • Building a national infrastructure to support adult social care providers of all types in understanding and implementing international recruitment
  • Building relationships with strategically important and influential stakeholders
  • Producing high quality resources for the team’s TURAS site

This role is an opportunity to get involved in some of the most critical conversations taking place across the NHS and social care – ensuring we have the workforce we need to deliver care both now and into the future.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our small, talented team to support the delivery of our universal support offer.

You will be working closely with the Senior Specialist Lead across all aspects of the project.  As Project Officer, you will develop, coordinate and input into the delivery of project plans, risk registers, issue logs and outputs.

You will provide much needed project coordination, ensuring high quality, engaging outputs are delivered on time.

Do you want to play a part in tackling intractable workforce problems within adult social care?

Do you enjoy working at pace in a high profile, dynamic environment?

Do you have a passion for project management and stakeholder engagement?

Do you enjoy problem solving and collaborating with others?

Working in the CWS social care team you will have the opportunity to bring your unique project and stakeholder engagement skills and experience to the table, collaborating across organisations to support the adult social care sector in Scotland undertake international recruitment.

Does this sound like you?
