The shift pattern is Monday to Friday 37hrs per week 9- 5pm 4days & 9- 4.30pm 1 day
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician Specialist to work within the Purchasing Team at the Pharmacy Distribution Centre. This post is responsible for ensuring safe working practices and supply of medicines.
You will be responsible for:
- The governance of Purchasing Services across Greater Glasgow & Clyde and support the management of the Purchasing Team.
- As a senior member of the PDC team you will contribute to the strategic and operational planning of pharmacy services and be responsible for all financial and staff resources, education and training for technical and support staff, workforce rotas and contingency planning for local service.
- The planning, co-ordination and day to day management of the Purchasing team within the PDC to ensure patients receive the highest quality products safely and efficiently.
The post holder will:
- Undertake activities relating to contract management and general office management in addition to appropriate technical duties.
- Have relevant technical experience and will work collaboratively with the pharmacy purchasing team and clinical pharmacists to achieve a cohesive approach to purchasing medicines and optimise the cost effective use of medicines within the acute setting.
- Purchasing provider engagement, medicines expenditure data analysis and Pharmacy representation at meetings make this an exciting opportunity to apply your knowledge, skills and experience.
- Be confident to work independently as part of a team interchangeably.
- Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills as you will provide day to day leadership and support for our large and friendly pharmacy team.

This position will support your personal development and provide you with the opportunity to facilitate the innovation and changing practices in line with the pharmacy strategy and vision. You will work with a team who strive to develop pharmacy services using quality improvement methodology to demonstrate service improvement.
Candidates must be:
- Registered with The General Pharmaceutical Health Council with an NC in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent)
- HNC Pharmacy Services or equivalent management qualification
- A1 Assessor or equivalent qualification 3 years post qualification experience providing a broad understanding of a range of technical practice and include staff management or willing to work towards A1 assessor qualification (or equivalent)
- They must hold an Accredited Checking Technician Qualification.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
