An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Registered Nurse who holds a specialist practitioner qualification (SPQ) in District Nursing to join the community nursing teams in Angus. You will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service which will mean rotation of shifts/base across Angus to ensure provision of service over the 24-hour period over 7 days.


Applicants without the SPQ will be considered within a training post. The post holder will be provided with full support to complete the PgDip as part of the MSc in Advancing District Nursing through Robert Gordon University commencing September 2025.  You will be expected to undertake a stand- alone module prior to commencing training in September.


You should have excellent leadership and change management skills, to include managing a caseload and skill-mix team of staff.  You will work in close partnership with colleagues across Angus to achieve the objectives of the Angus Health & Social Care Partnership Strategic Plan, ensuring an integrated approach to the delivery of compassionate care. Being an open, honest, approachable and responsible individual with an attitude to support excellent team working will be essential as will understanding how to develop, grow and nurture strong interpersonal relationships. These will be critical values and qualities which will develop and drive high performance to ensure the delivery of the best care experience possible.


A key objective will be to support the design and delivery of new models and pathways of care within the services.


This is a demanding specialist role, requiring high levels of professional skills to work effectively across a complex and competing multi-agency environment, where partnership working is essential. Excellent communication skills, collaborative leadership and highly developed interpersonal skills are a pre requisite to meeting all of the above.

Hours of work are:  30 hours per week


NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
