Location: Flexible: NES is a remote friendly employer supporting office and hybrid working. Please note, regular presence at our offices throughout Scotland is a requirement for this role. We’re happy to talk about how you want to work.
Work Pattern: The total availability of 1.2 WTE can be filled flexibly** (fixed term or secondment) until March 2025. Please let us know during interviews your preferred number of sessions (this will be at reduced working week level against a full-time model of 37 hours).
**For NHS applicants, an NHS secondment will be offered in the first instance. For non-NHS applicants, a secondment or fixed term would be arranged.

Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
The Pharmacy team within NES is responsible through the Executive Medical Director to the NES Board and through the Board to Scottish Government for the commissioning and delivery of postgraduate pharmacy education in Scotland.
Senior Educators in NES Pharmacy provide support for the development of key education solutions as well as support for educational supervisors and learners. This role sits across a number of key teams with a real opportunity to contribute to a critical stage of pharmacy education support.
We are looking for pharmacists with considerable experience as educators to be part of the Independent Prescribing and Clinical Skills team as a Senior Educator with responsibility for delivery of the Independent Prescribing and Clinical Skills programme work for all sectors as well as supporting the primary care pharmacy workforce to meet Scottish Government vision for Primary Care Transformation.
**These posts are less than full time opportunities with NES and we are supportive of postholders maintaining clinical practice in the remaining working week.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join our innovative team within NES Pharmacy for pharmacists with an interest in educational initiatives to expand their career experience and responsibilities at national level. Post holders will assist in the development of training, educational and clinical supervision support systems across NHS Scotland. You will work in close collaboration with pharmacists and multiprofessional teams within all NHS territorial boards across Scotland.

What We Love to See
Senior Educators offer a broad range of skills and experience, if you can offer some or all of these, we’d love you to apply:
- Pharmacist Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Practicing independent prescriber
- Experience in delivering pharmaceutical care in patient facing pharmacy services, particularly but not exclusively, within primary care (one role will require primary care experience however others need experience in/from any sector)
- Knowledge and experience of leading and supporting work to enhance career and role development for the pharmacy workforce
- Experience of working in an educationally focused environment
- Experience in understanding of the key factors and practices essential to high-quality learning and education and how these are effectively embedded and continually enhanced
- Experience working collaboratively and flexibly within in a team and in multidisciplinary environments
- Proven communication, interpersonal, negotiating, influencing and facilitation skills at a senior level, with the ability to communicate sensitive and complex information
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity, care and compassion when dealing with others, utilising tact and persuasion skills when necessary
- Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise own workloads and that of others, and to meet strict deadlines
