Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
This is a less than full time (6 PA) post to cover maternity leave available from 21st October 2024 for 1 year. The successful candidate will join two Consultant Geriatricians who work with the Edinburgh Hospital at Home (HaH) Service currently based at Liberton Hospital. The post will wholly support the Edinburgh Community Geriatrics predominantly our expanding Edinburgh HaH Service providing input into ward rounds and ‘consultant of the day’ work. The post holder will also have a weekly Medicine of the Elderly (MoE) clinic. They will also provide supervision to trainees doing regular clinics. They will provide support to other medical staff in HaH alongside a dedicated team of nurses. There may be opportunities for contributing to the Emergency Department Frailty Service. They will contribute to a regular meetings with Community Pharmacists, Community Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) and contribute to teaching for junior Psychiatry trainees. They will contribute to an active Quality Improvement Programme and Mortality and Morbidity meetings.
