About the Role:
As a Learning and Development Adviser, you will be an essential member of our Talent and Culture team, part of the People and Culture Directorate. Your primary focus will be to support the development of the workforce by managing and delivering comprehensive training programs that enhance the skills and capabilities of our colleagues. This role is crucial in helping us achieve our organisational goals and maintaining high standards of care and service delivery across Orkney.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Corporate Induction: Oversee NHS Orkney’s Corporate Induction programme, providing support and best practice guidance to managers and colleagues, and regularly review and evaluate the programme to ensure it meets organisational needs.
- Training Needs Analysis (TNA): Identify individual, team, and organizational training needs through TNA and develop suitable learning plans to address them.
- Design and Deliver Training: Develop and deliver both face-to-face and virtual training sessions on a range of topics, including induction, mandatory training, communication skills, and change management.
- E-Learning Development: Design and develop self-directed e-learning packages using tools like Articulate 360, MS Forms, and other digital platforms, ensuring accessibility and compliance with legislation.
- Learning Management System (LMS) Administration: Provide expert advice and guidance on the use of the Learning Management System (Turas) and ensure accurate reporting and data management.
- Coordinate Apprenticeships: Maintain relationships with external training partners and coordinate apprenticeship opportunities, including Foundation, Modern, and Graduate Apprenticeships.
- Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Ensure robust evaluation processes for all training programs, taking corrective actions where necessary to refine methods or content.
- Mentorship and Support: Provide line management to the Learning and Development Coordinator, conduct regular meetings, and support broader organisational development initiatives.
About You:
- Qualifications: Degree or SCQF level 9 qualification in Learning and Development, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTTLS) and certification in Digital Learning Design are desirable.
- Experience: Proven experience in facilitating, designing, delivering, and evaluating a range of learning programs, including virtual and blended learning approaches. Experience in conducting Training Needs Analysis and developing e-learning modules is essential.
- Skills: Excellent organisational, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to adapt training to diverse audiences. Proficiency in MS Office 365, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, is required.
- Personal Qualities: Strong attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
