The Role
The Deputy Medical Director- Acute Services reports to and works with th e Chief Operating Officer along with other members of the Acute Senior Management Team to provide medical leadership across the range of Acute Services in NHSGGC.
The successful candidate will demonstrate previous medical management experience within Acute/Health and Social care or Public Health services, strong influencing and leadership qualities and the ability to inspire the confidence and respect of colleagues to lead and deliver on key professional and service objectives.
The post carries an annual management fee (currently £25,000) and a time allowance equivalent of 6 Programmed Activities, which will be discussed on an individual basis to determine the split between direct clinical care and supporting professional activities.
The post holder will provide professional leadership to medical staff within acute services, promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement and ensuring there are robust systems in place to monitor, review and improve clinical performance in line with Professional standards.
The post holder will directly influence the strategic direction of the acute sector, and will support the Chief Operating Officer and the Executive Medical Director to plan high quality, economic, safe, efficient and patient-centred services in compliance with local and national targets.
