NHS Grampian

Associate Practitioner in Respiratory Physiology

Band 4 £27,598 – £30,019

Full time permanent post: 37.5hrs/week, Mon-Fri

An exciting opportunity for a flexible, enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Pulmonary Function and Sleep Team in Grampian has arisen.

The successful individual will function at a higher competency level than that of Healthcare support workers with responsibility for actively participating as part of the multidisciplinary team within Respiratory Medicine in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and in Royal Aberdeen Childrens Hospital. They will provide a seamless service to patients with minimal supervision from qualified respiratory physiologists. They will perform a range of routine lung function tests and provide support to sleep apnoea patients.  Experience in this exact role is not required as theoretical and practical training will be given both through in-house training and opportunity to attend designated courses. Excellent verbal communication skills and an aptitude to working with people from a range of backgrounds is essential.

The post is based in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but NHS Grampian covers the North East of Scotland serving a region from the Cairngorms to the North Sea including coastal Moray and the Northern Islands. NHS Grampian provides healthcare for a population of 540,000 with around 40% living within Aberdeen and the remaining 60% in Aberdeenshire and Moray.  The pulmonary function laboratory supports all specialties in ARI including 10 respiratory consultants who have a broad range of specialist interests and areas of expertise.

Ideally you will be familiar with working in a healthcare setting and have an interest in human biology, data collection and quality control. Opportunities for career progression may exist for suitable employees. Applications from those seeking part-time hours will be considered.

Informal enquiries should be made to claire.fotheringham@nhs.scot

Interviews are scheduled for 8th October 2024

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
