Trainee Health Visitor

Band 7 £50,375 - £58,334 including Distance Islands Allowance pro rata per annum* (Annex 21 Opportunity)

We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our small team of Health Visitors.

The role will predominantly be based on the Orkney Mainland, with further opportunities to deliver care to families living on our stunning Outer Isles.

This is an opportunity for candidates to undertake study towards a Post Graduate Diploma (Master's Level) Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification commencing January 2025 under Annex 21: arrangements for pay and banding of trainees. On appointment to the programme, within NHS Orkney, the successful applicant will be a trainee Health Visitor during the course, Annex 21 arrangement will apply. Once completed and obtainment of the Part 3 NMC on the NMC Register the candidate will commence on a Band 7, 12-month preceptorship will follow once on the NMC.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone keen to pursue a career in Health Visiting and to improve outcomes for children and families.

The successful candidate will be supported by a Supervisor and Assessor in the Health Visiting Team.

Applications would be welcomed from candidates possessing the following:

  • 1st Level - NMC Registered Nurse or Midwife
  • Recent evidence of CPD and Leadership Development
  • Degree in Nursing, Health Visiting or Midwifery
  • Evidence of transferrable skills

On appointment to the programme, within NHS Orkney, the successful applicant will be a trainee Health Visitor during the course, Annex 21 arrangement will apply. You will undertake the Postgraduate Diploma Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN). Once completed and obtainment of the Part 3 NMC on the NMC Register the candidate will commence on a Band 7, 12-month preceptorship will follow once on the NMC.

The successful candidate will be supported by a Supervisor and Assessor in the Health Visiting Team.

Full driving licence is essential to the role.
