Head of Service – Community Care Services

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of Service to join the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership to provide both operational management and strategic leadership for Community Care Services as a core member of the Senior Leadership Team.


Fife Health and Social Care Partnership is one of the larger Health and Social Care Partnerships in Scotland, serving the stunning and diverse Kingdom of Fife on Scotland’s East coast. We provide health and social care to a population of more than 380,000 people and lead a workforce of around 7,000 staff.  We support a Team Fife approach with NHS Fife, Fife Council, the independent and voluntary sectors.


The post holder will become a member of the Senior Leadership Team and report directly to the Director of Health and Social Care.   You will have line management responsibility and accountable for managing, developing and providing leadership to the following services across Fife within the Health and Social Care Partnership: 


    Integrated Community Teams
    Hospital Discharge Teams
    Community Inpatient Services
    Specialist Inpatient and Outreach Services
    Community Nursing and Specialist Services
    Residential Care Homes (Fife Council)
    Care at Home (Internal Service)

You will have transferable skills to lead Integrated Teams working across Organisational Boundaries. You will ideally have knowledge and experience of both NHS and Local Authority as well as the national policy landscape for these service areas. You will have vision and ability to lead a significant programme of large scale change and transformation. You will be committed to the delivery of the outcomes of Integration for the people of Fife and striving for excellence in both quality and person centred care through our strategic plan. 


We are looking to appoint a driven and inspiring individual who has the ability to manage and lead complex transformation and deliver a wide ranging and sustainable service developments. As a team player you will be committed to collaboration and partnership working whilst ensuring the highest standards of strategic and operational management working closely with both the Senior and Extended Leadership team. 


Short listed candidates will be required to participate in a range of assessment activities including behavioural profiling, a real play exercise (with stakeholders), delivering a presentation and a values /competency based interview. These activities will all contribute to testing candidate competence. It is anticipated that shortlisted candidates will be notified by 9th October.  If shortlisted, you will be asked to complete a behavioural profiling exercise on 10th October. The real play exercise will be in person at Fife House on Wednesday 16th October 2024 and the formal interview will take place in person in Fife House on Friday 18th October 2024.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.
