POST OF SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN MEDICAL SPECIALTIES

We are looking to attract candidates who are passionate about improving the care of acutely unwell medical patients as part of a dynamic and forward thinking team to shape the future of acute care in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Foresterhill, is the principal adult acute teaching hospital of the Grampian area providing a complete range of medical and clinical specialties. It is situated on a large open site to the North-West of the city centre. The Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital and the Aberdeen Maternity Hospital are also located on this site.

Ward 402/403 is an established ward that was previously used for Cardiology and Respiratory Stepdown.  A Strategic Bed Base Review has created an opportunity to review medical specialty step down provision.  The Ward 402/403 team will work collaboratively with medical specialties across the Medicine and Unscheduled Care Portfolio to ensure patients provide wrap around care appropriate to their admission. The ward has 24 beds, and has full telemetry provision.

  1. Contribute to the clinical work of the department including the assessment and treatment of acutely unwell medical patients.
  2. Take responsibility for and support the work of the junior staff.
  3. Ensure that patient pathways are optimised
  4. Give decision support to the MDT in all medical areas
  5. Provide support for the Consultant(s) staff in the Portfolio as required
