NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this position is 9-5pm.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join an award-winning communications team.
NHSGGC is the largest single health authority in the UK and as such you can expect to contribute to a wide range of issues. You will support in the delivery of a range of internal communications campaigns and operational communications support across multiple platforms, crafting creative content to engage with a workforce of more than 40,000 staff.
This role requires a highly creative and dynamic individual who can craft and manage content for various internal platforms, ensuring it aligns with NHSGGC’s vision, values and objectives.
Your key responsibilities will include effective internal communications so excellent writing skills are essential. Enthusiasm, commitment and a positive attitude to problem solving is also required.
You will play an important role in supporting the management of the staff intranet – one of the key ways we communicate with our staff and you will be able to work in close collaboration with the wider Communications and Public Engagement Directorate, and other service stakeholders.
Requirements:
- You will be a confident and motivated individual educated to degree level in appropriate marketing, communication or public relations or have equivalent qualification/experience.
- You will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills and have experience of handling and dealing effectively with a wide range of stakeholder enquiries.
- Knowledge of the NHS or the public sector would be an advantage.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
